Charith Jayampathi is a proven left-arm quick bowling all-rounder with over a decade's experience in Sri Lankan domestic cricket (2008-21).
A genuine all-rounder, Jayampathi is a skillful quick, hard-hitting batter, and an intelligent cricketer with exceptional leadership skills.
He is a player that seemed destined for big things following 28 outings for the Sri Lankan Under-19s, including the ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand back in 2010. In August 2013, he represented the Sri Lankan Under-23s in the Asian Cricket Council Emerging Teams Cup and, at that point, was nudging international selection. However, despite dominant performances on the domestic circuit, he hasn’t progressed to the national side.
Nevertheless, Jayampathi continued to excel for SLPACC up until 2019, before signing to play the 2019/20 season in Australia. Playing for Margaret River Hawks in Western Australia's Busselton Margaret River Cricket Association, he produced decent returns, averaging 28.78 and 25.00 with bat and ball, respectively.
Jayampathi has since returned to Sri Lanka where he played white-ball cricket for Panadura Sports Club last summer. He is hoping to play first-class in 2022 in a view to adding to his 45 first-class outsings where he has 69 wickets at 30.14 and 8 half-centuries amongst 1,195 runs at 29.87.
Thereafter, the all-rounder is seeking an opportunity to ply his trade abroad during the Australian or New Zealand 2022/23 summer.
