Chetan Sakariya is a left-arm pace bowling sensation who was fast-tracked to the Indian T20 side in July 2021, following his exploits in the IPL and domestic cricket.

Playing for the star-studded Saurasthra side in India, the quick, who shapes the ball at pace with the proven ability to reverse swing the ball, burst onto the scene in November 2018. He took figures of 5-83 on debut against Gujarat, before 6-63 against Maharashtra in his third match and a 6-wicket match haul against the powerhouse Mumbai side in his fourth.

Opening the bowling alongside Jaydev Unadket, in a side that includes Indian superstars Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravi Jadeja, the left-armer impressed throughout his maiden domestic season, ending the Ranji Trophy season with 29 wickets at 28.20. Thereafter, he starred in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20), taking 10 wickets at 15.10, with wickets in each of his 5 games.

His exploits were rewarded with an IPL gig in 2021, getting signed by the Rajasthan Royals for 1.2 crores. He took 7 wickets at 31.71 and was rewarded with an international call-up against Sri Lanka in July 2021.

Sakariya, who originally broke into the Saurashtra senior side following a glittering age-group career for the State, has been lorded for his bowling performances, however, he’s also a useful bat. He struck 28* against Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy final, facing 82 balls, in a crucial 10th wicket partnership of 60, helping his side to within 5-runs of Vidarbha’s first innings total. During the final, he also bowled two very economical spells in each innings, taking 2-44 (21) and 1-19 (13).

Sakariya is an incredible prospect and is open to a UK gig in 2022, albeit this will be subject to IPL and international commitments.
