Christabel Chatonzwa is a current Zimbabwe (Lady Chevrons) international who most recently featured in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers (Sept 2022).
Affectionately known as “Chat”, she is an accomplished top order batter who bowls useful off-spin. She has been involved with the Lady Chevrons for well over a decade making her debut during the Global Qualifiers in South Africa back in 2008.
Chat always seemed destined to make the Lady Chevrons, following a glittering junior career which started representing Zimbabwe Under-19s as a 15-year-old. Whilst she has had her ups and downs throughout her career, she has always managed to claw her way back to the side courtesy of her domestic performances.
In March 2022, she proved just that with a brilliant match-winning century for Eagles Women in the Fifty50 Challenge Final. She carried her bat to finish 108 not out (114 balls) to help inflict a huge 167-run victory over the Rhinos Women. She was subsequently picked up for the T20 qualifiers, and now represents Southern’s Women in the Regional One-Day Tournament (2022/23).
The experienced batting all-rounder has featured for the Lady Chevrons all over the world, including tours to South Africa, Bangladesh, Kenya, Tanzania, Ireland, Thailand, and the UAE. She is now eager to embark on further opportunities globally – initially with a UK stint in 2023, then Franchise tournaments around the world.
