Francois Fourie is a promising all-rounder playing for Zululand Cricket Club in Durban’s strong Castle Lager Premier League.

Fourie has become a stand-out performer for Zululand in recent years, where he either opens or bats in the top order. A genuine all-rounder, he has bowled spin (both leg and off-spin) in previous years but reverted back to his seam-up last summer with success.

A hard-working, and highly driven cricketer, Fourie has topped Zululand’s run and wicket charts in recent years, following a stellar and highly decorated junior career at the prestigious Westville Boys’ High School. He enjoyed 50 plus 1st XI caps for the school, and in 2019 was their leading wicket-taker.

During the same season, Fourie represented his province (KwaZulu-Natal) at the Under-19 Coke Week (National Tournament). He was also the 2019 Coca-Cola Schools SA All-Star team captain.

Alongside his outdoor cricket, Fourie continued to excel in the Indoor version of the game skippering the South Africa Under-21s at the World Cup. More recently, he has been involved with the South African Under-22 squad.

In 2021/22, Fourie was part of Zululand’s run to the Premier League title. Unfortunately, they finished league runners-up, but personally, he finished inside the top 15 wicket-takers in the Premier League, not to mention topping Zululand’s runs chart.

Fourie is an exciting talent who is eager to progress in the game. Whilst known as a hugely motivated, and dedicated trainer, he is also into his fitness with various strength, conditioning, and personal training accreditations.

The talented South African all-rounder is keen to embark on an overseas trip next summer to continue his development. Given current UK immigration rules, Fourie is only eligible to play in the Republic of Ireland or the Netherlands in 2024. He is a player that comes highly recommended by various close sources to the CricX team.
