Givon Christian is an accomplished batting all-rounder from Cape Town, South Africa. He currently plays for the star-studded Western Province Cricket Club, a side that features current professionals Kyle Simmonds, Gavin Kaplan, and Junaid Dawood, amongst others.
A former Western Province first-class player himself, Christian represented the Cape Cobras and South Africa Colts (U23s) and is currently one of the leading performers in WPCA club cricket.
In 2021/22, Christian was named “Batter of the Tournament”, and “Man of the Series”, in the last Cape Town Premier League (CPL) edition, striking 6 half centuries in 9 games with a strike rate of over 160. This competition is the Premier T20 competition in the Western Cape consisting of Premier players alongside contracted professionals.
Last summer (2022/23), Christian has racked up 968 runs with 13 half-centuries and an average of 58.20 in both league (596 runs at 60.12) and T20 cricket. He has also taken his fair share of wickets, whilst sharing the spin-bowling duties with Simmonds and Dawood.
Christian has also been a dominant performer abroad, excelling in both the UK (2014-15: Old Actonians; 2016: Davenham), and Ireland (2013: Glendermott; 2017: Terenure). Now in his final semester of a Bcom finance degree, and once complete, his full focus will be on breaking back into the professional fold.
In view of this, he is eager to return abroad for another cricketing stint in 2024. A high-class professional, someone we strongly recommend next summer.
