Harlan Greig is a promising leg-spin bowling all-rounder from Cape Town, South Africa.
A gifted leg-spinner and hard-hitting batter, Greig boasts a wealth of experience despite his age. He has enjoyed plenty of success, both home (SA), and abroad (UK) in recent years.
A tall spinner, his swift bowling is unique and has caught the eyes of numerous coaches, including both Nottinghamshire and Essex coaches who rewarded him with 2nd XI opportunities in 2022.
In UK club cricket, he has bagged well over 200 wickets in his 6 stints (2016-23). In 4 of his last 5 seasons, he has been named his club's bowler of the year. During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, he has finished toward the top of the respective league wicket charts (Southern Premier League, and Leicestershire League).
Whilst his UK batting numbers are perhaps below his expectations, he has still produced several match winnings knocks, including a brilliant 98 in a T20.
At home, Greig plays for the famous Claremont Cricket Club, which has played home in recent years to several English players, including County legend Darren Stevens (Kent).
Playing in the Western Province Premier League, he currently sits narrowly outside the top 10 wicket-takers last summer, with best figures of 7-26 against a side including Gloucestershire batter Chris Dent.
Greig is an exciting, and highly energetic cricketer who feels ideally suited to the white format of the game. Those in the know feel he has what it takes to not only excel in Premier cricket but take the next step up to play County level. Not only a fine player but a leader-of-men, who has shown his tremendous leadership potential by skippering Clacton during his second stint with the EAPL club in 2019.
The dual Passport holder is quite the talent who, after his successful stint with Skelmanthorpe (Drakes Huddersfield League) last summer is seeking a UK return in 2024.
