Joshua Barrett is a high-class prospect currently skippering both Southern District (SACA Premier Cricket) and the South Australian 2nd XI (Futures League), respectively.

Holder of a British Passport, Barrett is an accomplished keeper/batter looking to break into professional cricket. He has been involved with the South Australian age-groups and Emerging Redbacks program over the years and was part of the Australia Schools Under-16s.

Barrett has been a stand-out performer in Grade cricket, churning out over 7,000 runs - half of which over the last 7 seasons - 898 runs at 64.14 (2015/16), 516 runs at 36.86 (2016/17), 617 runs at 38.56 (2017/18), 487 runs at 48.70 (2018/19), 581 runs at 45.25 (2019/20), and 826 runs at 37.55 (2020/21).

He has a penchant for "big runs" having converted 4 of his 9 Grade centuries into 150-plus scores, namely 165* (v Adelaide University), 182* (v Port Adelaide), 172, and 201 (both v Woodville).

Whilst skippering SDCC, under the tutelage of former Windies great, Carl Hooper, Barrett has been a 3-time Club Champion and was named in the SACA Team of the Year, courtesy of topping the Premier run charts in 2015/16. He has also been named the SACA keeper of the year on three occasions.

The dual Passport holder faces stiff competition to break into the Redbacks side, given current squad keepers include Alex Carey and Harry Nielsen. However, his sheer volume of Grade runs and leadership role for the State will ensure he remains in the mix for inclusion.

The talented gloveman isn't currently seeking a gig in 2022, following his two prolific stints with Worcester (2010) and Downend (2011) several years ago (2,143 runs at 42.02). However, he may consider opportunities further down the line.
