Kartikeya Kak is a hugely talented pace bowler who currently spearheads Hyderabad's bowling attack in Indian domestic cricket.
Prior to his Hyderabad senior debut, Kak starred for the U23s in the various U23 competitions (Inter-State, CK Nayudu Trophy, and U23 One Day), bagging 12 wickets at 23.83 during his final 2019/20 season.
He attended numerous camps all over India, including the U23 All India NCA Camp, was a member of the MRF Pace Foundation (under Glenn McGrath), and as mentored by Shane Bond when part of the Mumbai Indians squad in 2020/21.
Kak initially made his T20 (Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy) debut for the State back in January 2021, but had to wait almost 2 years later (December 2022) for his first-class (Ranji Trophy) debut.
It proved to be an expensive debut for Kak, going for 154 runs from his 27 overs across the two innings, albeit he did bag his first two Ranji wickets, Tamil Nadu openers Narayan Jagadeesan and Sai Sudharsan.
After his eye opening debut, he excelled throughout the rest of the Ranji Trophy campaign, finishing the 2022/23 campaign with 24 wickets at 20.70 with best figures of 7-91 against Maharashtra.
Kak now looks set for a long career in Hyderabad colours and hopes his domestic exploits will generate both IPL and Duldeep Trophy selection.
For now, though, the right-arm seamer is looking to dominate this summer and, thereafter, is seeking his maiden UK stint in 2024.
