Kavindu Nadeeshan is, quite simply, a superstar in the making who has made massive waves in Sri Lankan cricket in recent years.

A product of Dharmasoka College (Ambalangoda), Nadeeshan excelled at Under-19 (Division 1) level, taking 183 wickets at 20.69 alongside 1,051 runs at 15.35 in two-day cricket. He notched up 5 half-centuries, 10 five-wicket hauls, and best figures of 7-67, during his four seasons (2015/16-18/19).

Regarded by many in the know as the best young leg-spinner in the country, he was selected to represent Sri Lankan Under-19s, where he featured in the ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa early in 2020.

Thereafter, he was fast-tracked to play against the touring West Indians for a Sri Lankan XI, taking figures of 1-48 including the wicket of Sunil Ambris.

A week later, he made his first-class debut for the star-studded Colombo side against Negombo. In his third outing, he produced an incredible innings against SL Army, striking his maiden first-class century (122) against the quality Army bowling attack.

In December 2020, Nadeeshan was picked up to play in the Lankan Premier League for Dambulla Viiking.Whilst he has yet to produce the bowling returns that he's been heralded for, his time will certainly come. He is a star in the making.

The talented youngster has a massive future and has targeted a season abroad in 2022 to continue his development.
