Kieran McComb is an accomplished left-arm spinner from Wellington, New Zealand.
Born in Leeds (Yorkshire), the dual Passport holder has impressed in Wellington for the best part of a decade and has represented the Firebirds in 4 Plunket Shield matches since his debut in April 2022.
The left-arm spinner is one of Wellington Premier Cricket’s stand-out performers (and has been for many years). With almost 200 games under his belt for Taita Cricket Club, he currently sits amongst the all-time wicket-takers for the club (over 300 Premier wickets).
Over the past three seasons, McCombe has bagged Taita's Cricketer of the Year awards, and last summer (2022/23) he topped the Premier Competitions wicket-charts, and was Wellington Provincial A's Player of the Year.
Following his Firebirds debut towards the back-end of the 2021/22 season, McComb finally earned a re-call for 3 Plunket Shield matches (Feb/March 2023) after taking an 11-wicket haul (6-39 & 5-63) in Taita's Premier club win over Upper Hutt. He would bowl very economically during these matches, and also take 6 wickets.
After his dominant season in Wellington, McComb returned to the UK and played a season in the strong Middlesex Premier League for Hampstead. He was a resounding success with the ball, as he was during his maiden UK stint a decade ago in the Nottinghamshire Premier League (2013: Papplewick & Linby - 53 wickets at 25.13).
The dual Passport holding spinner, who also doubles as a highly accredited and experienced NZC Level 2 (UKCC 2 equivalent) coach, is now open to a UK return (ideally in/around London) for the 2024 season.
