Liam Murphy is a hugely talented batting all-rounder from South Africa who currently plays Premier League cricket for Old Parktonians under the tutelage of former South African International and Somerset Head Coach David Nosworthy.

Holder of a UK Ancestry Visa, Murphy traveled to the UK last summer to take up a role at Penzance CC as a Player/Coach in the Cornwall Cricket League. Due to registration rules, Murphy could only play 2nd XI cricket, albeit in a League playing predominantly first teams. He excelled in his maiden stint, racking up over 500 plus and 38 wickets in all competitions.

Murphy is not only a fine prospect but a fully qualified coach who aspires to become a full-time coach if professional cricket alludes him. He is now seeking a UK return in 2022 and hopes to combine playing league with County 2nd XI cricket next summer, should the opportunity arise.

There is no doubt the young South African is a huge talent and one that represents a quality amateur recruit for any club in 2022. For the avoidance of doubt, the UK Ancestry Visa holder is eager to play a high standard of league cricket, ideally ECB Premier League, for his development.
