Malka Madushanka is a talented left-arm orthodox spinner playing for the star-studded Sri Lankan Army Sports Club in the top tier of domestic cricket.
He broke into first-class cricket during the 2017/18 season, where he impressed for Army taking 22 wickets at 17.31 including his maiden five-wicket haul (5-41).
Like many youngsters, he suffered a lean second season, taking only 3 wickets in 2018/19, but he made amends during the last full summer (2019/20) with a further 13 wickets.
Regular bowling opportunities for Army have been limited in recent years, due to the dearth of spin bowling talent, including Seekkuge Prasanna, and CricX star Dushan Vimukthi. Nevertheless, he has become a key component in an Army side that also features Sri Lankan internationals Dinesh Chandimal, and Asela Gunaratne.
Madushanka is now keen to experience cricket abroad and has targetted a UK league season for his development in 2022. He is a player that comes highly recommended by none other than former Sri Lankan legend Ajantha Mendis who suggests he'll excel in club conditions next summer.
