Michael Levitt (20) was a schoolboy prodigy who excelled for his South Africa College School and also his Province (Western Province). The South African-born batting all-rounder has worked his way through the ranks and seems destined for a bright future.
Levitt first won awards for best Western Province U13, U15, and U17 cricketer and due to his success he was rewarded with a tour to England representing The All Rounder Cricket Academy back in June 2018, before returning in 2019 on a Cricket exchange program with Haileybury College. Levitt starred, finishing fourth on the Wisden Schools run charts with 936 runs at 68.68. He finished above the likes of Joshua De Caires (Middlesex), Ben Geddes (Surrey), Isaac Dilkes, Tawanda Muyeye (Kent), Daniel Ibrahim, Jack Carson (Sussex), and Ben Charlesworth (Gloucs), who have subsequently secured County contracts in recent times
In 2020, post Covid, Levitt represented Cobras Cubs in National Cubs Week. The following year (2021), he was selected as skipper of the Western Province U19A team and last summer (2022) Levitt returned to the UK where he played for Middlesex Premier outfit Stanmore Cricket Club alongside working at St. Margaret’s School. The 20-year-old was a league stand-out and finished with 1,114 runs, including 942 runs at 44.86 in the Middlesex League itself to finish inside the top 3 Premier run scorers.
Holder of Dutch and British Passports, he has high hopes of breaking into the Netherlands national side in the future, but for now, is eager to play a season in the Southern Hemisphere for the 2024/25 season. We see Michael as an exceptional young cricketer with a lot to offer, any club would be lucky to add this 'Gun' for their upcoming campaign.
