Muktar Ali is a genuine all-rounder who broke into the Bangladesh national side in January 2016. He produced figures of 0-17 (2) and 19* (15 balls) in the Tiger’s 31-run loss to Zimbabwe. This, to date, has been Ali’s only international fixture, despite dominant performances in domestic cricket.
A skillful seam bowler boasting a raft of variations and batter capable of adapting his game to any situation, Ali has scored over 3,500 runs and taken nearly 300 wickets during his 15-year domestic career. He has played with and against some of the biggest names in world cricket, to include sharing the Chattogram Challengers dressing room with the great Chris Gayle in the recent Bangladesh Premier League (Dec 2019).
With a first-class best of 168 and match figures of 8-86, Ali really is a star at domestic level. He has excelled in white-ball cricket, particularly T20, where he currently boasts 75 wickets at 22.82 with an impressive strike rate of 16.70 and best figures of 5-22.
It was his short format form that paved the way to a T10 contract in January 2021. He turned out for the Maratha Arabians in Abu Dhabi - playing alongside the likes of Laurie Evans, Shoaib Malik, and Mohammad Hafeez. He has been earmarked to return to the League in future, and has generated interest from other Franchise Leagues around the globe.
The talented all-rounder is someone that comes highly recommended by team-mates and coaches alike. Ali is quite the player who has recently decided to pursue a season’s UK league cricket in 2022, following in the footsteps of his first-class team-mate (and fellow CricX client), Junaid Siddique.
