Nicol Loftie-Eaton is an exciting batting all-rounder currently representing Namibia at the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
A genuine all-rounder, Loftie-Eaton has become an integral member of the Namibian side in recent years. A fluent batter, capable of batting in the top, or middle-order, and a leg-spinner, who has also kept wicket for his national side.
Loftie-Eaton shot to prominence at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand (Jan 2018) hitting 107 runs in his 5 matches, including a highest score of 36 against England. He continues to excel in domestic cricket, playing for CCD Tigers, and was rewarded with his T20 international debut in April 2021.
He hasn’t looked back, and at the point of writing (17/10/22) has played 14 ODI’s, and 20 T20I’s for Nambia, alongside a solitary first-class match back in February 2018. He has impressed, particularly in ODI cricket averaging 32.75 in the ICC World Cup League Two competition.
To add context, Loftie-Eaton’s Namibian side competes against the likes of Oman, Scotland, USA, UAE, Nepal, and Papua New Guinea. Since his debut, he has been one of Namibia’s chief run-scorers, and his batting numbers compare favourably to the likes of Scottish stars Kyle Coetzer and George Munsey, who average marginally higher during the same period (36.84, and 36.83, respectively).
With the ball, Lofte-Eaton has become a regular to the bowling crease in recent years. He boasts best ODI and T20I figures of 2/12, and 2/21, respectively. As he has proven, he’s also a competent gloveman when required.
Loftie-Eaton is quite the prospect who following the World Cup and his domestic season will embark on his maiden UK stint having signed with Hucknall for their 2023 Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Premier League campaign.
