Nicol Loftie-Eaton is an exciting batting all-rounder currently representing Namibia in ICC World Cup League Two and qualifiers.
A genuine all-rounder, Loftie-Eaton has become an integral member of the Namibian side in recent years. A fluent batter, capable of batting in the top, or middle-order, and a leg-spinner, who has also kept wicket for his national side.
Loftie-Eaton shot to prominence at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand (Jan 2018) hitting 107 runs in his 5 matches, including a highest score of 36 against England. He continues to excel in domestic cricket, playing for CCD Tigers, and was rewarded with his T20 international debut in April 2021.
He hasn’t looked back, and at the point of writing (31/07/23) has played 32 ODI’s, and 22 T20I’s for Nambia, alongside a solitary first-class match back in February 2018. He has impressed, particularly in ODI cricket averaging 29.91 in the ICC World Cup League Two competition.
To add context, Loftie-Eaton’s Namibian side competes against the likes of Oman, Scotland, USA, UAE, Nepal, and Papua New Guinea. Since his debut, he has been one of Namibia’s chief run-scorers, and his batting numbers compare favourably to the likes of Scottish stars Kyle Coetzer and George Munsey, who average marginally higher during the same period (36.84, and 36.83, respectively).
With the ball, Lofte-Eaton has become a regular to the bowling crease in recent years. He boasts best ODI and T20I figures of 3/54, and 2/21, respectively. As he has proven, he’s also a competent gloveman when required.
Loftie-Eaton is quite the prospect enjoyed a run-filled maiden UK stint in 2023. Playing for Hucknall in the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Premier League he racked up well over 1,000 in all cricket, plus 30 plus wickets. He also impressed for our CricX XI in 2 T20s v Italy in July taking match-winning figures of 4-28 (4).
A stand-out performer, and cracking bloke to boot, Loftie-Eaton is now considering a return next summer and is someone we highly recommend.
