Precious Marange is a Zimbabwean all-rounder who boasts quite the sporting story. Pursuing her passion for sport, Marange plays both cricket and rugby for the Zimbabwe Women’s teams.

She grew up poor in a village in the Eastern Highlands and had to work to pay her way through secondary school. But while working as a maid, she discovered her love for cricket. She captained the Zimbabwe women’s cricket team while being a single mother providing for her son.

Despite achieving national success in rugby and cricket, Marange still works a day job in a factory. However, her ultimate dream is to play cricket abroad, ideally in global Franchise tournaments.

A left-handed batter who bowls seam-up, Marange’s cricketing journey started at her local club – Takashinga. In January 2019, after dominating provincial cricket, she earned her T20 international debut for Zimbabwe. In October 2021, she became the seventh oldest women to make her ODI debut, aged 38 years and 313 days.

To date, she has now played 31 times for her country where she has excelled, particularly with the ball in the WT20I format with 21 wickets at 12.85.

In her most recent tournament (November 2011) – the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Regional Qualifiers, she starred with both bat (averaging 25 with a strike rate of 111.94) and ball (8 wickets at 7.62).

Marange is a stand-out performer for the Lady Chevrons and is eager to now play on the global stage.
