Ramesh Nimantha is a talented batting all-rounder playing for Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.

A schoolboy prodigy, Nimantha excelled at College, and District level culminating with Sri Lankan Under-19 inclusion for their Malaysian tour (2016).

During his tenure at St. Servatius College, he broke numerous records, including the highest score (212*) previously set by Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuria. This came during his remarkable 2016 calendar year where he churned out 1,327 runs, alongside 34 wickets for the College (following up 1,000 plus runs and 27 wickets the previous year).

Nimantha was thereafter fast-tracked to play for Sri Lankan Ports Authority Cricket Club in Sri Lanka’s Club Championship (first-class). He played 1 match during the 2017/18 season but became a first-team regular in 2018/19 hitting his maiden ton (120) amongst 389 runs at 25.93. The following season he continued to shine hitting a further 521 runs at 47.36.

Having featured in 16 first-class matches (911 runs at 33.74), Nimantha secured an opportunity to play Premier club cricket in Australia in 2019/20. He excelled hitting 456 runs at 57 alongside 14 wickets at 22.64 for Beaconsfield Cricket Club in the Tasmanian Cricket League (Premier Division).

Unfortunately, COVID struck in 2020, jeopardising his Australian return. However, Nimantha has subsequently returned to playing Sri Lankan domestic cricket where he enjoyed success for his new club Bloomfield in the SLC Major League white ball tournaments in 2022.

Frustratingly, the all-rounder suffered a leg injury which is currently keeping him out of first-class cricket, but he aims to return to the Bloomfield fold in due course before embarking on a maiden UK stint in 2023.
