Sagar Trivedi is an Indian pace bowling all-rounder who enjoyed a record-breaking maiden UK stint in 2021.

Playing in the Lancashire League for Church and Oswaldtwistle, the former IPL all-rounder struck 817 runs at 35.52 and took 48 wickets at 16.31 with the ball.

However, alongside two 5-wicket hauls, and a handful of fifties, it was one innings that hit the headlines, namely his 33-ball 116 against Rawtenstall. This innings, which included 13 sixes and 7 fours broke the record for the fastest hundred in Lancashire League history, scored in only 28 balls.

It proved to be a sensational maiden season for Trivedi, who had come off a mediocre domestic season for Puducherry in India's white-ball competitions (Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy). Across both List A and T20 formats, he only picked up 5 wickets, albeit did impress in the 50-over competition with 228 runs at 76.

The previous summer, though, Trivedi was an absolute stand-out in both red and white ball. After dominating the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20 – 5 wickets at 15.40), and Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A – 17 wickets at 11.64), he produced performance after performance in the Ranji Trophy (28 wickets at 14.35 and 236 runs at 29.50).

Trivedi is another former Mumbai star who represented the State in 4 List A and 8 T20 matches between 2015 and 2018, before deciding to move to pursue regular domestic cricket. His move has clearly paid dividends. Figures of 4-18 (5.1) v Meghayla and 6-50 (8.4) v Uttarakhand in his opening List A matches, before an 8-wicket haul on first-class debut against Sikkim (5-20, 3-25). Thereafter, Trivedi racked up a string of notable performances, including evidencing his all-round status, with scores of 40 (v Sikkim), and 79* (v Arunachal) in first-class, to compliment a best List A score of 54.

The all-rounder, who has also earned praise from former Somerset, Northants, and Derbyshire quick, Steffan Jones, who worked with Trivedi with the Royal’s IPL outfit, was looking to impress during his maiden UK stint and he did just that. It's no wonder Church and Oswaldtwistle were quick to re-sign their Indian pro for their 2022 Lancashire League campaign.
