Shehzad Azam is a veteran quick and competent middle-lower order batter who has lorded domestic cricket in Pakistan for over a decade. He has played over 180 matches across the 3 formats, to include 95 first-class where he has captured 388 wickets at 26.53 with 23 five-wicket hauls.

He has represented various sides - the majority with Islamabad. In 2015, he was picked to play for Pakistan A and, whilst he’s not gone onto represent his Country, he has continued to dominate the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy since with season tallies of 35 wickets at 16.51 (2015/16), 29 wickets at 21.10 (2016/17), 36 wickets at 22.61 (2017/18), and 10 wickets at 39.30 (2018/19).

Azam has also become a useful contributor with the bat over the years. He boasts a highest first-class score of 91 (scored during his 227 runs at 25.22 2013/14 season) and, more recently averaged 17.54 (2017/18), and 23.50 (2018/19). He’s also proven his all-rounder status in List A cricket, with half-centuries in his last two one-day campaigns, where he has averaged 48.33 (2017/18) and 42.66 (2018/19).

Unfortunately for Azam, due to domestic restructuring in 2019/20, he hasn't played first-class since but has been a key performer for Northern 2nd XI in the strong Quaid-e-Azam Second XI Trophy. He remains eager to return to first-class cricket, but things remain "in the air" as to whether this will happen.

Nevertheless, Azam remains a proven performer and he's also excelled abroad during 5 UK league stints. After a fleeting trip to Crewe in 2010, he spent four seasons (2013-14, 2016-17) in the South Yorkshire League (Premier Division) for Elsecar. During this period, he took 231 wickets at 16.50 with 13 five-wicket hauls and best bowling figures of 7-30. He also scored 2,003 runs at 31.30 with 14 half-centuries and a highest score of 98*.

The accomplished seam bowling all-rounder is now seeking a Dutch or Irish club in 2022, following a 4-year hiatus from league cricket. Given his exploits home and abroad he represents an excellent addition for the 2022 season.
