Subhranshu Senapati is an exceptional batting prospect playing across the formats for Odisha (formerly Orissa), in India’s eastern state on the Bay of Bengal.
A schoolboy prodigy, Senapati starred his state through the age groups and represented East Zone Under-19s. He broke into the senior side in 2016/17 and enjoyed a run-filled Ranji Trophy campaign, hitting his maiden ton (137) amongst 497 runs at 35.50.
Since then, he has continued to shine topping Odisha’s Ranji run charts and taking the skipper's armband toward the backend of the 2017/18 season. That season, he would go on to churn two further centuries en route to 427 runs at 53.37. He added fourth and fifth Ranji centuries over the next two seasons with tallies of 617 runs at 44.07 (2018/19), and 313 runs at 24.07 (2019/20).
In white-ball cricket, the youngster was also producing runs a plenty – his barnstorming 2019/20 Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A) campaign (308 runs at 51.33) pushed his name toward India A inclusion, and he subsequently backed up with 275 runs at 68.75 in the most recent 2021/22 edition. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20), he has been a key performer for Odisha averaging 35.80, 36.50, and 27.60 over the past three seasons.
The run machine, who comes highly recommended by former Indian Test opener and legendary English Pro Wasim Jaffer, is now pushing for higher honours this summer and is, thereafter, keen to explore UK options for the 2023 season.
