Supun Madusanka is an exciting all-rounder playing for Police Sports Club in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.
A leg-spinner and explosive middle-order batter, Madusanka has excelled across the three formats since his debut during the 2018/19 season.
He has become a key component of the Police’s side, whether that be taking wickets or finishing games. This was evident during Sri Lankan’s Major League (List A) Tournament last summer (2020/21), where he struck 242 runs at 40.33, including two outstanding knocks from the middle-lower order.
In March 2021, he struck a 48-ball 89 against a star-studded Sinhalese bowling attack including the likes of Prabath Jayasuriya, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Tharindu Rathnayake. A week later, he was at it again, this time chasing down Sebastianites’ 255 in 48-overs with a 38-ball 65.
When you bear these batting performances in mind, alongside his skills with the ball, it’s no wonder he was also a success down under during the three seasons prior to joining Police Sports Club.
Playing in Australia, he spent the 2015/16-2017/18 seasons with Old Paradians (Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association), Yarraleen (Diamond Valley Cricket Association), and Eastern Maroons (Victorian Sunday Cricket Association). During this period, and in his 110 matches, he struck 2,343 runs at 28.23 alongside 203 wickets at 28.33.
Now the former Sri Lankan Under-19 squad member is eager to spend a few seasons playing UK league cricket and is currently enjoying a successful maiden stint with Collingham and District in the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Premier League.
Thereafter, the Sri Lankan all-rounder seeks a return to Australian shores.
