Suryakant Pradhan is an experienced seam bowling all-rounder who has spent a decade plying his trade for Odisha in India’s domestic competitions.
Following his List A debut in 2012/13, he has gone on to play neigh on 150 matches for the State. He has become an Odisha legend, and at the point of writing is on the verge of the 300 wickets and 2,000 runs domestic double across the three formats.
Pradhan plays for Odisha alongside fellow CricX stars including Yuvraj Singh, Shantanu Mishra, Anurag Sarangi, Govindar Poddar, Subhranshu Senapati, and Rajesh Dhuper. He has been a stand-out performer for the State – leading their bowling attack, and scoring crucial runs in the middle-lower order.
In recent seasons, he has evidenced his all-round worth for Odisha, particularly in first-class cricket. His Ranji Trophy campaigns either side of COVID read as follows – 229 runs at 20.81 and 25 wickets at 24.80 (2018/19), 257 runs at 23.36 and 40 wickets at 25.85 (2019/20), and 165 runs at 27.50 and 25 wickets at 32.20 (2022/23).
Pradhan clearly is a standout performer in domestic cricket and over the years he has generated higher honours, including East Zone selection for the 2016/17 Duldeep Trophy. However, he has not progressed to Indian A honours, despite comparative stats to players of similar skill sets.
Now a domestic veteran, Pradhan is eager to experience a season abroad. Having never played in UK club cricket he is keen to give this a crack for the 2024 season. A high-class performer, and one who will be a sought-after acquisition.
