Tim Oakley is a genuine quick who has been a stand-out performer for Tea Tree Gully (SACA Premier Cricket), and South Australia 2nd XI (Futures League) in recent seasons.
A towering seamer, Oakley is renowned for bowling with decent pace, and the ability to swing the ball. Regarded as a “multi-format” bowler, he can open up, bowl at the death, and can adapt to various match situations. Above all, Oakley has the proven ability to be a match-winner.
An “X Factor” player, he has taken the most wickets in two of the past four SACA Premier seasons. He has been a two-time SACA “Team of the Year” inductee and led Tee Tree Gully to the Grand Final in 2022. He has topped the club’s bowling aggregates in recent seasons, boasts best figures of 8/73 (2019), and 9/52 (2020), and won the Jason Gillespie Rising Star Award (best young player in SA).
Courtesy of his Premier club exploits, Oakley has played 17 2nd XI games for South Australia and has represented the Cricket Australia XI (against the touring Pakistanis in 2020). He has nudged State selection and aspires to break into the Redbacks fold in the not-too-distant future. It would come as no surprise to anyone involved with SACA Premier cricket to see him selected.
Oakley has bagged over 350 grade wickets with an average of 20 and has all the tools to be a successful quick in State cricket.
The Grade sensation has proven himself in South Australia and set to replicate this in the UK last summer. He did just that. Playing for Copdock and Old Ipswichian he excelled with the ball in the strong East Anglia Premier League taking 40 plus wickets.
Given his success, Oakley is now contemplating a UK return for a second stint in 2024. A strong option.
