Yasoda Mendis is a pace-bowling all-rounder playing in the top tier of Sri Lankan cricket.
A late bloomer, Mendis broke into domestic cricket in January 2017, and ultimately cemented his spot the following summer.
Playing for Sri Lanka Army Sports Club, alongside international stars Dinesh Chandimal, Asela Gunaratne, and Seekkuge Prasanna, the all-rounder has impressed since his debut.
In 2018/19, he struck 233 runs at 23.30 from the lower-middle order, then the following season he showed his all-round skills by taking 16 wickets at 15 with the ball.
His season highlight came against Moors Sports Club, dismantling the side with figures of 7-18 (15.1).
Post-COVID, Mendis has continued to be a solid performer for the Army and after 25 first-class games boasts averages of 17.93 and 26.47 with bat and ball respectively.
A proven all-rounder, Mendis showcased his skills abroad in 2023. Playing for Madeley, he excelled in the Shropshire County Cricket League, and was one of the star overseas players in the league.
Given his success, he is eager to secure further opportunities in future.
