An opening batter from Sydney’s outer suburbs, Tim Ward took the road less travelled to first-class cricket, relocating to Tasmania to earn his opportunity at the highest level. That chance finally arrived late in the 2020–21 season, and Ward wasted little time announcing himself.

In just his second Sheffield Shield match, Ward struck a superb 144 against Queensland, immediately marking the mature-aged rookie as a player to watch. His poise and discipline at the top of the order quickly became hallmarks of his game.

Ward’s rise continued with selection in Australia A for the series against New Zealand A in 2023. Returning to the Tigers’ side in the 2024–25 summer, Ward produced the second first-class century of his career, compiling a commanding 142 against South Australia, and was rewarded with another Australia A call-up, this time to face the England Lions.

One of the fastest-rising talents in Australian cricket, Ward has become one of the nation’s most talked-about batting prospects, admired for his patience, resilience, and technical soundness.

The winner of the Bradman Young Player of the Year Award (2021), Ward registered his maiden first-class century against Western Australia later that year and went on to top the Sheffield Shield run charts, amassing 467 runs at an average approaching 52.

Ward has also built an impressive résumé in UK league cricket. After a successful maiden stint with Birmingham and District Premier League side Shrewsbury, he returned in 2018 determined to push his game further. That season, he amassed 736 runs for Normandy in the Surrey Championship, finishing third on the ECB Premier Division run charts behind Tom Bruce (New Zealand) and David White (South Africa A). He returned for a second stint with Normandy in 2019, but injury cruelly curtailed his campaign just two matches in. Despite this, Ward still scored 172 runs, including an unbeaten 104*. Ward returned to the UK in 2025 and enjoyed a strong season for Potterne in the WEPL, scoring 538 runs from 12 innings at an average of 44.83.

Tim is a high quality player and has an availability window from mid April to early August. He would be a stellar signing for any club.
