Chaim Holder is an exciting off-spin bowling all-rounder currently making his mark alongside some of the biggest names in West Indian cricket. After making his first-class debut for the Leeward Islands in January 2018, Holder had to patiently wait for regular opportunities, but when they arrived, he certainly didn’t disappoint.
Between 2018 and 2022, Holder featured in three WICB Professional first-class matches for Barbados, but it was the 2022/23 West Indies 4-day Championship opener that truly announced his arrival on the big stage. In that match against eventual champions Guyana, he took an impressive 3 for 72 in the first innings, setting the tone for a standout season. He went on to finish second on Barbados’ wicket-taking charts behind international star Akeem Jordan, claiming 18 wickets at an excellent average of 20.83, including his maiden five-wicket haul of 5 for 71.
To date, Holder boasts 63 wickets at 25.26 in 19 first-class matches, a testament to his skill and potential. Having come through the Barbados age-group system, he has been a prominent figure in the BCA Elite Division with Spartan since 2013. That same year, he made his List A debut for the Combined Campuses and Colleges, impressing with figures of 1 for 17 against Barbados. His selection followed a strong all-round showing against the touring Zimbabweans for the University of the West Indies Vice Chancellor’s XI, where he took 2 for 50 and scored 33 runs.
Before breaking into first-class cricket, Holder regularly featured for Barbados XI sides playing against touring county teams from England between 2015 and 2016, picking up notable wickets such as Josh Cobb, Adam Rossington, Jimmy Adams, Adam Wheater, Tom Lewis, and Sam Hain.
Over the past two seasons, Holder has broadened his experience in English club cricket, representing Oxford Downs in the Home Counties Premier League in 2024 and Woodford Wells in Essex the previous summer. Now firmly cemented in the Barbados squad, this promising Barbadian all-rounder is eager to return to England for another successful stint in 2026.
