Mohamed Dilshad is one of the most promising left-arm quicks in Sri Lankan domestic cricket. In recent years, he has represented Sri Lanka A and competed in the Premier League Tournament (Tier A) for Saracens Sports Club and Panadura Sports Club, as well as turning out for both Kandy and Galle Districts in the prestigious Super Four Provincial Tournament (first-class).
He made his List A debut for Panadura Sports Club in December 2012 and his first-class debut followed shortly after, in February 2013. His maiden season didn’t quite take off — 8 wickets at 41.75 — but a brilliant Under-23 Tournament for Panadura later that year (17 wickets at 12.88) caught the attention of Badureliya Sports Club, who signed him for the 2014/15 campaign.
The move proved inspired. Dilshad flourished at Badureliya, claiming 34 wickets at 23.35 in Sri Lanka’s top domestic tier, including outstanding best figures of 7-54. His impact earned him selection for Sri Lanka A and a tour of England in July 2016, where he faced Derbyshire and the England Lions.
Returning home for the 2016/17 season with Saracens Sports Club, opportunities were limited and he finished with 6 wickets at 27.33. But he rebounded strongly in 2017/18, taking 20 wickets at 29.75 and securing selection for Galle District in the Super Four Provincial Tournament. He continued to build his credentials with two solid seasons thereafter — 12 wickets at 22.41 and 11 wickets at 25.63 — reinforcing his status as a genuine future national prospect.
Dilshad is a high-class bowler with clear international aspirations. A sharp left-armer capable of moving the ball even on unresponsive pitches (as showcased in the profile video), he remains a constant threat to top-order batters.
In 2019, he enjoyed his maiden stint in the UK — and, unsurprisingly, he impressed. Playing in the Derbyshire League, he spearheaded his team’s promotion to the ECB Premier League with 49 wickets at 16.02.
Since COVID, he has returned to Panadura, where he has continued to excel: 21 wickets at 22.85 in 2022/23, followed by 22 wickets at 20.90 in 2024/25.
Now, the Sri Lankan star is eager to head abroad once more — and make an even bigger impact in 2026.
