Unley Cricket Club is delighted to announce the signing of English duo Olly Jefferies and Ethan Rice for their 2023/24 Adelaide Turf Cricket Association campaign.
Olly Jefferies
Jefferies is an exciting batting all-rounder playing for Mildenhall in the strong East Anglian Premier League.
The youngster, who also bowls leg spin, moved to the EAPL powerhouses last summer following club stints with Burwell and Exning (2021), and Eaton Socon (2019-20).
Alongside his club commitments, Jefferies has been involved with the Northamptonshire Academy over the past three years. He made his County 2nd XI debut as a 16-year-old and continues to play for the club. Courtesy of his exploits, in particular his ability in the field, Jefferies has acted as the 12th man for the full Northants side numerous times.
The talented stroke-maker, who also represents Bedfordshire in the Minor Counties competition, is now eager to progress through to a professional contract.
Ethan Rice
Rice is a talented young bowling all-rounder from Cambridge, England.
A left-arm medium-fast bowler who predominantly uses seam movement as his main weapon, Rice has already made a Northamptonshire 2nd XI debut. The exciting youngster has represented the County on numerous occasions after graduating through the age-group pathway.
Currently playing his Club Cricket for Eaton Socon in the Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Premier League, Rice has progressed to be a regular opening bowler in the club’s 1st XI and has impressed over recent seasons. Since joining the club back in 2020, the left-armer has taken 51 League wickets at an average of 23.22. Rice has career-best figures of 6/23 taken back in July 2021 against Foxton Cricket Club.
Also a reliable right-handed middle-order batter, the youngster has had limited opportunities in recent times but continues to work hard and has the technique required to score runs on a regular basis.
Both lads are looking forward to heading down under next winter having signed with Unley for their 2023/24 Adelaide Turf Cricket Association campaign.
