Bankfoot has signed in-form Afghanistan run machine Zia-ul-Haq Parwani for their 2022 Bradford Cricket League campaign.

Star domestic performer

Parwani is a run-scoring machine and current skipper of Band-e-Amir Region – recent semi-finalists of the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day Tournament (October 2021).

In the most recent competition, he finished atop of his sides run charts, and fifth overall with 203 runs at 50.75, before striking his 11th century in his first-class opener in November 2021. Parwani has simply followed up the form that has seen him finish amongst the leading run-scorers in Afghanistan’s first-class competition in each of the past 3 seasons.

FC in numbers…

During his maiden Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-Day Tournament campaign, he finished as the second leading run-scorer, hitting an incredible 5 centuries in 15 innings amongst his 902 runs at 75.16. The following season, he produced a further 3 centuries and 714 runs at 47.60 to finish fifth on the charts. Roll on the last campaign (2019) he Parwani churned out another 616 runs at 41.06 to finish sixth on the tournament run charts.

The Band-e-Amir skipper is not just a run-machine, but a very useful off-spinner who has taken 22 domestic wickets to date – the majority of these within recent seasons.

Parwani signs for Bankfoot

An incredibly talented player, Parwani is eager to push for national selection, but for the time being has focussed on securing his first UK stint in 2022, following in the footsteps of Zia Ur Rehman Akbar who had such a dominant season in the Liverpool League last year (85 wickets at 6), and the person who strongly recommends Panwari to any UK club.

Given his domestic success, Parwani has been snapped up by Bankfoot who will play in the Premier Division of the Bradford League in 2022 following promotion last summer.
