Bovey Tracey is pleased to confirm the signing of exciting wicket-keeper batter, Musa Twala, for their 2024 Devon League campaign.
Musa plays for the Titans and recently represented the South Africa Emerging Players (August 2023).
He plays his domestic cricket for the star-studded Titans Franchise, who play in Division 1 (top tier) of South African professional cricket. Last summer (2022/23), his debut season for the Titans, he rubbed shoulders with the likes of South African skipper, Dean Elgar, and fellow Proteas players Lungi Ngidi, Theunis de Bruyn, Simon Harmer, Heinrich Klaasen, Junior Dala, Aaron Phangiso, Lizaad Williams, and “Baby AB” Dewald Brevis.
His Titans selection was arguably a left-field pick. However, those in the know, including head coach Richard das Nevis, feel big things are on the horizon. In Nov 2021, he showed glimpses of this undoubted potential by scoring 124 from 245 balls for Easterns against Limpopo in a CSA 4-Day (Division 2) match.
Musa had previously spent his junior career with Easterns, coming through the pathway system, before earning a cricket scholarship to St Albans College in Pretoria. His exploits at under-age level and for the College culminated with Coke Week selection for Northerns in 2018.
In October 2019, Musa would make his first-class debut for Easterns against KZN-Inland. He would play 2 matches during the 2019/20 season, then 5 following COVID in 2021/22 before his move to the Titans this summer.
Unfortunately for Musa, opportunities this summer appear limited given Klaasen remains the Titans’ frontline gloveman. Nevertheless, the talented youngster will bide his time and make the most of that next opportunity, whenever that will come.
Following his season with the Titans, Musa is set to embark on his maiden UK stint having signed with Bovey Tracey for their 2024 Devon League campaign.
