After another dominant 2019 summer, Chippenham has re-signed Adeesha Nanayakkara for a third season in 2021.

The hard-hitting batter who plays for domestic cricket for Sri Lanka Ports Authority has struck 2,196 runs at 57.79 and taken 61 wickets at 18.80 during his 2-season stint with Chippenham in 2018-19. His exploits have been instrumental in the club’s back-to-back titles and subsequent promotions, from the Wiltshire and Prem 2 (Glos/Wilts) divisions, in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

In Sri Lanka, Nanayakkara boasts an impressive domestic career averaging 36.34 and 44.04 in first-class and List A cricket, prior to the 2020/21 season.

He has excelled in all formats since the 2016/17 season. In first-class (Tier A) cricketer, he has struck 512 runs at 36.57 (2016/17), 320 at 80 (2017/18), 650 at 46.42 (2018/19), and 459 runs at 45.90 (2019/20).

This trend has continued into white-ball cricket, in-particular List A where he has struck 320 runs at 80 (2017/18), 274 runs at 54.80 (2018/19), and 220 runs at 73.33 (2019/20).

He was set to return to Chippenham this year before COVID struck. It comes as no surprise that the Club were swift to re-sign their Sri Lankan star for what will be his third stint for the club in 2021.
