Conisbrough CC have secured Buddhika Sanjeewa for a third year in the Yorkshire South Championship.

Sanjeewa is an experienced seam-bowling all-rounder playing for Badureliya Sports Club.

In 35 T20 matches, he averages 19.82 with an incredible strike rate of a wicket every 15.3 balls. It’s a similar trend in List A cricket, with an average of 24.35 and an economy of 5.05 in his 42 games.

In his 42 first-class matches, he has 73 wickets at 45.09 with 2 five-wicket bags and a top score of 50.

Sanjeewa has enjoyed success abroad, playing two successive seasons down under for Cowaramup in the Margaret River Cricket Association, before two stints with UK club Conisbrough in 2021 and 2022.

In 2016/17, he dominated the MRCA, taking 63 wickets at 8.27 before backing up with a further 29 wickets at 9.03 the following season.

Over the past two seasons (2021-22) playing in the Championship Division of the Cricket Yorkshire Southern Premier League, he has starred hitting 1,305 runs at 29 alongside 121 wickets at 19.65.

Courtesy of these exploits, Conisbrough were swift to re-sign their Sri Lankan star all-rounder for a third stint in 2023.
