Cowdrey is delighted to confirm the signing of Tripura all-rounder, Rajat Dey, for their 2024 Kent League campaign.
Dey is a unique and highly capable cricketer playing for Tripura across all formats in Indian domestic cricket.
Since his T20 debut during the 2015/16 season, Dey has played nearly 100 matches for the State, racking up nearly 2,000 runs.
As stated, he is a unique cricketer, not only a fine batter who currently occupies the number 4 position in Tripura’s Ranji Trophy side, but he is ambidextrous who bowls right-arm seamers and left-arm orthodox spin. He has taken wickets with both arms in domestic cricket.
Dey’s journey started with the State in 2015/16, averaging 30 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20). He would then impress during his debut Ranji season (2016/17) hitting 368 runs at 28.30). Dey would make his Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A) the following summer (149 runs at 24.83) but then struggled to maintain his spot until the return to cricket post-COVID.
Last summer (2022/23), he became a Tripura regular – striking a career-best 89 during the Ranji season and averaging mid-20s in both white-ball formats.
However, he is a player capable of much, much more, according to various sources, as he evidenced during the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign (Oct 2023).
The talented all-rounder is looking to continue his success in both List A and first-class this summer before heading abroad to play his maiden UK season in 2024 having signed with Cowdrey for their Kent League campaign.
