Denby will see the return of their Sri Lankan overseas Sanoj Darshika for their 2022 Drakes Huddersfield League campaign.

Bloomfield run machine

Darshika is a talented batter who made the move back to Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic club this summer, following stints with Panadura Sports Club (2020/21), Chilaw Marians (2019/20), and Bloomfield (2018/19) previously.

A batter who bowls useful leg-spin, Darshika enjoyed a quite sensational maiden domestic season for Bloomfield in 2018/19. Playing alongside fellow CricX stars Asantha Singappulige, and Sachin Jayawardena, who all recommend the talented youngster highly, he racked up 509 runs at 56.55 to finish as the 6th leading run-scorer in Sri Lanka’s Premier League Tournament (Tier B).

Darshika also showed his all-round skills taking 8 wickets at 21.75 with his leg spin. In List A cricket, he has also excelled in his 10 outings hitting 249 runs at 35.57.

The former Prince of Wales schoolboy then spent brief stints with Chilaw Marians (2019/20), and Panadura (2020/21), before moving back to Bloomfield for the current season. Darshika has made quite the impression in domestic cricket and is now looking to push on to higher honours.

Darshika set for Denby return following run-filled stint in 2021

In view of his ongoing development, the talented batter spent the 2021 season playing for Denby in the Drakes Huddersfield League. He excelled hitting 973 runs at 64.67 including a double hundred (200*), alongside 28 wickets at 16.25 across all cricket for the club. Unsurprisingly, the club was swift to re-sign Darshika for a second stint in 2022.
