Edinburgh is pleased to announce the signing of County 2nd XI batter Sam Oldham for their 2023/24 Eastern Cricket Association campaign.

Oldham is an exciting and prolific top-order batsman from Liverpool, England.

Oldham is currently playing his cricket for Formby Cricket Club in the highly competitive ECB Liverpool and District Competition. Since debuting for his current side back in 2017, Oldham is the highest run scorer in the current first team amassing 4,868 runs at 42.33 in 5 seasons.

A former product of Lancashire County Cricket Club’s Academy system, Oldham spent almost all of his junior cricket representing the red rose. He eventually graduated to the senior 2nd XI in 2018 after the talented right-hander was part of the Lancashire age groups from the age of 11.

Also enjoying a stint for Derbyshire’s 2nd XI in 2019, the stylish batter has earned a reputation as a prolific run scorer due to his consistent performances on a regular basis. Throughout the 2022 season, the former Lancashire man scored 1,218 runs at 46.85, striking 10 fifties and 2 hundreds.

Alongside being a dominant UK performer, Oldham has also enjoyed success down under when hitting 371 runs at 74.20 in his 8 innings for Maroochydore Cricket Club in Brisbane.

Whilst known for his batting, Oldham is an underrated bowler. A handy right-arm medium pacer with the ability to change his pace according to the conditions. He bagged 16 wickets from 8 matches during a previous Australian stint alongside 42 wickets for Formby at an average of 29 across his 5 seasons.

Oldham is a stand-out ECB Premier performer who is now set to embark on his second Australian season having signed with Edinburgh for their 2023/24 Eastern Cricket Association campaign.
