Formby is delighted to announce the signing of former IPL star, Bipul Sharma, for its 2020 Liverpool League campaign.
The ECB Premier club was swift to sign the Chandigarh all-rounder, following the revelation of their original pro, Abrar Kazi’s, spot-fixing allegations.
Bipul in full flow for the Sunrisers.
Sharma is an accomplished first-class all-rounder playing for Chandigarh in 2019/20, following an outstanding Ranji Trophy season for Sikkim last summer.
A veteran of 200 plus domestic games spanning more than a decade (debut in December 2005), the left-arm spin bowling all-rounder boasts an impressive record with over 5,000 runs and neigh on 300 wickets.
He has been a consistent performer across all formats and has enjoyed some outstanding Ranji seasons – none more so than his 2014/15 season when he scored 3 hundreds amongst 491 runs at 70.14 alongside 21 wickets at 24.33.
He is a player in his prime and, since the 2013/14 season, has struck all of his 6 first-class centuries and hasn’t averaged less than 40 in any Ranji campaign. With the ball, he has been steady, averaging early to late 20s throughout this period, with 2 first-class 5 wicket hauls (both taken during the 2015/16 season).
Sharma played in the ICL in 2007, then IPL for Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad between 2010 and 2013. He represented India A in 2010 and Ranji sides Punjab (2005/06-2012/13; 2017/18), Himachal Pradesh (2013/14-16/17) and Sikkim (2018/19).
