Geelong Cricket Association 1st Grade South Barwon Cricket Club sign promising county all-rounder Sam Ellis for their 2023/24 season.
Predominantly and opening bowler, but also capable of bowling at any stage of the game, Sam bowls at good pace and aggressively from the beginning of his spell.
A player with great ambition to further his game to the next stage, and ultimately earn a professional contract, Ellis is a cricketer of huge ability who is on the radar of English Counties. The young seamer showed some pedigree last season, taking 4 first-class wickets in just 2 innings against Leicestershire and Yorkshire respectably for his University side (Leeds Bradford MCCU).
Due to his achievements early on in 2022, the Shrewsbury seamer gained the attention of two counties, eventually representing both Yorkshire and Kent in 2XI fixtures. Last season Ellis took 19 wickets for Formby Cricket Club, playing in the highly competitive Liverpool & District Competition Premier League. He backed up a previous year of 23 wickets in 2021.
Also a handy right-handed batsman, the 23-year-old is capable of scoring later order runs.
Ellis is now set to showcase his skills abroad having recently signed with South Barwon Cricket Club for their 2023/24 Geelong Cricket Association campaign.
