Glendermott is delighted to confirm the signing of former South African T20 international Gihahn Cloete for their 2023 North West Cricket Union campaign.

Cloete is one of South African domestic cricket’s stand-out wicket-keeper batters.

He has excelled on the circuit for well over a decade since his first-class debut in October 2008. Since then, Cloete has racked up nearly 11,000 runs in 331 games across the three formats.

Courtesy of his exploits at Franchise level, Cloete was finally rewarded with international selection playing two T20Is against Zimbabwe (Oct 2018), and Pakistan (Feb 2019).

His call-up was incredibly well deserved having been a consistent run-getter for over a decade. However, it was his rich vein from the 2015/16 season onwards that generated selection.

After striking a century (125) against the touring England Lions for South Africa A, he churned out first-class season tallies of 516 runs at 30.35 (2016/17), 545 runs at 34.06 (2017/18), 541 runs at 36.06 (2018/19), 235 runs at 33.57 (2019/20), and 331 runs at 36.77 during the most recent season (2022/23).

He has been equally prolific in List A cricket with season tallies of 536 runs at 33.50 (2016/17), 546 runs at 45.50 (2017/18), 333 runs at 33.30 (2018/19), and 228 runs at 32.57 (2021/22).

Cloete is a proven performer, who has also scored runs abroad during his maiden UK stint for Prestwich in 2017 (797 runs at 39.85).

The former South African international is now set on a return this summer having signed with Glendermott for their 2023 North West Cricket Union campaign.
