Middlesbrough is delighted to announce the signing of Pakistani slow left-arm spinner Mohammad Asghar for their 2023 NYSD campaign.

Asghar is one of Pakistan’s stand-out domestic spinners.

Since his first-class debut during the 2014/15 season, the slow left-armer has taken 173 wickets at 32.23 with 9 five-wicket bags.

He has been equally impressive in both white-ball formats with a further 114 wickets at 29.16 (List A), and 61 wickets at 24.65 (T20).

Courtesy of his domestic exploits, Asghar has earned international recognition playing for Pakistan Under-17s, Pakistan Shaheens, Pakistan A, and has been named in both the Pakistan Test (3) and ODI (1) squads.

The tweaker, who plays for the star-studded Sindh side, whose squad during the most recently Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (2021/22) featured no less than a dozen Pakistan internationals, including the likes of Asad Shafiq, Fawad Alam, Sarfraz Ahmed, and Sohail Khan, to name but a few, is a quality performer.

He has excelled in all formats with the ball and has also produced numerous notable innings with limited opportunities with bat-in-hand.

Asghar fancies himself as a genuine bowling all-rounder and will showcase his talent abroad having signed with Middlesbrough for their 2023 North Yorkshire and South Durham League campaign.
