Pudsey Congs is pleased to announce the signing of replacement professional Yohan Mendis for their 2022 Bradford League campaign.

Original pro, Pramud Hettiwatte, was forced to withdraw due to domestic commitments but has recommended the Tamil Union young gun as his replacement.

Playing alongside Sri Lankan stars

Mendis is a talented left-hand batter playing for Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club – one of Sri Lanka’s leading Premier clubs.

Playing alongside the likes of international players Isuru Udara, Dhananjaya de Silva, Jeewan Mendis, and Kithuruwan Vithanage to name just a few, Mendis has cemented his Tamil spot in recent years.

Mendis in numbers…

He made his first-class debut in January 2018, scoring a half-century (61), then featured in 4 matches in 2018/19. The following season he struck his maiden first-class century (116 v Negombo) and finished with 305 runs at 30.50, including a notable 62 against the star-studded Nondescripts bowling attack.

To date, Mendis averages 23.52 in his 14 first-class matches, alongside 18.42 and 31.50 in his 9 List A, and 5 T20 games, respectively, including a highest score of 75 (scored in the One-Day quarter-final).

Now set for UK stint

A player that comes highly recommended by former Sri Lankan legend Rangana Herath, Mendis will be looking to impress abroad this summer having signed with Pudsey Congs for their 2022 Bradford League campaign.
