Sandwich Town is delighted to announce the signing of Brisbane Heat, and South Australian Redbacks’ quick David Grant for their 2022 Kent League campaign.
Quite the prospect…
Grant is an exceptional seam bowling prospect playing State (South Australia), and BBL (Brisbane Heat) cricket. At present, Grant has played 19 domestic games dating back to his one-day debut in August 2016.
A former Australian U19 star, Grant has long been regarded as a player for the future. Unfortunately, a foot stress fracture in March 2018 stunted his progression, but such was his promise that he was upgraded from his rookie contract to a full Redbacks contract in 2019/20.
High praise
Grant is a player who has earned high praise in recent years. SACA High-Performance Manager Tim Nielsen likened him to domestic legend Chadd Sayers, but given time, he would become faster and eventually resemble Test quick Josh Hazlewood.
He has clearly been earmarked as someone with international potential. He was a member of the National Performance Squad in 2016 and was selected to play for the Cricket Australia XI the following year.
Grant has been involved with the Strikers BBL squad and most recently has played for the Brisbane Heat (Jan 2022).
SACA Grade star
Alongside his domestic commitments, Grant has been a long-standing and influential member of Kensington District Cricket Club in the SACA Premier League. In his club career, spanning over a decade, he has taken 260 wickets at 19.87 and has 1,220 runs at 16.71 with bat-in-hand.
Following in Marnus’ footsteps…
An exciting prospect, Grant is now keen to progress in the game and in a view towards his development is set to play UK Premier cricket having recently signed with Sandwich Town, former home to Marnus Labuschagne, for their 2022 Kent League campaign.
