Chelmsford is delighted to announce that Australian all-rounder Tom Duxson has agreed to return for a second stint in 2023.

Duxson is a talented batting all-rounder originally from Melbourne, but now living and working in Essex (England).

A top-order batter who bowls off-spin, over the past decade, Duxson has played Victoria Premier 2nds (Footscray), Sub-District 1st XI (Werribee), and VTCA Senior Division (Sunshine United), alongside three UK stints (2018-19 – Irchester, Northants League; 2022 – Chelmsford, Essex League).

Prior to his UK relocation, Duxson spent the previous five seasons at Sunshine United where acted as vice-captain. During the 2020/21 season, Duxton was an integral part of his club’s maiden Senior Division Premiership, scoring 594 runs at 42.40, including scores of 62, 43, and 56 in the three-game grand final to be named player of the finals.

His efforts across the season saw him named in the competition’s team of the year, finish third in the competition’s best player award, and being named the club’s best and fairest.

Duxson has also enjoyed three stints abroad. During his opening two seasons (2018-2019) for Irchester CC in the Northamptonshire Cricket League, he was a resounding success racking up 1,818 runs from 42 games across both seasons, at an average of 64.93 including four centuries and 11 half-centuries. With the ball, he claimed 90 wickets at an average of 14.09 – including four five-wicket hauls.

Last summer, the UK Ancestry Visa holder churned out a further 610 runs at 25.42 alongside 22 wickets at 25.05 for Chelmsford in the top tier (Premier Division) of the Essex League. Courtesy of his success, the club was swift to re-sign their Australian all-rounder for a second stint in 2023.
