Torquay has secured the services of Indian batting all-rounder Jiniv Joshi for their 2022 Devon Cricket League campaign.

From Mumbai to Moratuwa…

Joshi is an explosive opening batter hailing from Mumbai who spent the 2019/20 domestic season in Sri Lanka.

Joshi was picked up by Sebastianites Cricket and Athletic Club courtesy of his A-Division exploits in Mumbai. A hard-hitting batter, who bowls handy medium-pacers, Joshi toiled away to break into the Mumbai senior squad over the years, but given the lack of opportunities (due to their strength and depth), he decided to pursue professional cricket in Sri Lanka.

His success was neigh on immediate, hitting a half-century (59) in his second red-ball outing, before a stunning century (107) in his fourth match. Joshi ended the Premier Tournament (Tier B) with 312 runs at 28.36, and many plaudits for the way he goes about his work.

His century against KTC exemplified his batting prowess. Opening up, Joshi struck 6 fours and 9 sixes, all with a strike-rate of 124.42, to reach 107 from only 86 balls.

North East success

A destructive batter and useful swing bowler – Joshi is a player that comes highly recommended as someone capable of dominating club cricket in 2022.

He has previously spent one season in Durham, racking up 855 runs at 38.86 alongside 22 wickets at 22.95 for Easington in the Durham Cricket League.

Now set for the sunny South

For 2022 he is set to play for Torquay where he hopes to impress in the Devon League.
