Chanuka Dilshan is yet another talented Sri Lankan left-arm spinner looking to showcase his skills abroad.

If he can replicate the success of fellow SLA compatriots, and CricX stars Sandaken Pathirana, Navin Kavikara, Tharindu Ratnayake, Sudara Dakshina, and Gayan Sirisoma, he’ll be some signing for any club abroad.

Dilshan, who plays for Negegoda Sports and Welfare Club, alongside Pramud Hettiwatte (who excelled in the Bradford League last summer for Pudsey Congs), has been a stand-out performer since joining the club from Moors in 2019/20. Throughout that Premier Tournament campaign, he took 23 wickets at 23.60, including 2 five-wicket hauls and best figures of 6-50.

Dilshan was Nugegoda SWC’s second-leading wicket-taker in first-class cricket, in a 2019/20 summer where he also averaged 19.20, and 15.33, in List A, and T20 cricket, respectively.

He previously made his first-class debut in February 2019 for Moors Sports Club – a side often flooded with international cricketers. It was quite the debut, taking figures of 5-75, and 3-63, including the wicket of skipper (and fellow CricX client), Dishan de Silva in both innings.

After a surprisingly lean 2018/19 season, taking only the 10 wickets, Dishan was picked up by Nugegoda SWC, where he hopes to continue his success when cricket resumes post-COVID.

Dilshan is a quality prospect who will be a fantastic signing for any club moving forward.
