Dhruv Raval is an experienced and accomplished keeper/batter seeking an opportunity to play his trade in Australasia this summer.
The talented gloveman played over 50 matches for Gujarat between 2014 and 2021, in a side that regularly featured Indian stars Parthiv Patel, Piyush Chawla, RP Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Axar Patel.
Raval averages 36.68, and 33.68 in 15 first-class, and 25 List A matches, respectively. However, didn’t have his contract renewed for the 2022/23 season, hence looking to travel down under to play for the foreseeable future.
A star performer, Raval’s best domestic season came in 2018/19 when hitting 529 runs at 44.08 in the top tier (Group A) of India’s Ranji Trophy. His season tally included a ton (116*) against Chhattisgargh and brilliant 99 against the powerhouse Mumbai side. He then backed up with 175 runs at 29.16 in 2019/20 before COVID struck.
Until the 2018/19 season, Raval’s opportunities were limited over the years for Gujarat – regularly playing understudy to Indian Test keeper Patel. Having dominated the CK Nayudu Trophy, company, and club cricket for over a decade (in 2012/13 he averaged 48.66, then finished amongst the leading run-scorers during the 2013/14 campaign, hitting 3 centuries amongst his 491 runs at 49.10), Raval was finally rewarded with his first-class debut on 29 November 2016.
Raval, who is the cousin of former Blackcaps Test bat Jeet Raval, represents a quality option for any club this summer.
