Fergus Lellman is an exceptional prospect who earned his maiden Northern Knights professional contract ahead of the 2024/25 domestic season.

A hard-hitting batter who bowls brisk seam up, Lellman has previously represented the Knights in 3 first-class matches (April 2022, February 2023, March 2023).

His ND contract was just reward for several seasons of dominance for Northern Districts A, Bay of Plenty, and his Premier club side, Otumoetai Cadets.

A gifted batter, dynamic fielder, and skilful medium-pacer, Lellman has progressed through the ND ranks and his success at age group level culminated with New Zealand Under-19 inclusion.

He made his debut against the touring Bangladeshis in September 2019 and ended their 4 ODI series with 269 runs at 89.66, including a century (116*) and 2 fifties (76 and 56), all with a strike rate nudging a run-a-ball.

A few months later, he was a consistent performer at the ICC Under-19 World Cup, producing notable scores in each of his 5 matches. In his 12 ODI matches for New Zealand, Lellman has racked up 431 runs at 43.10.

Over the past few seasons, Lellman has quite literally "banged the Knights door down" to earn his professional contract. He impressed for ND 'A', and Bay of Plenty, but it was his utter dominance at Premier club level for Cadets that really pushed his claims. In 2020/21, he struck 596 runs at 49.67 and took 20 wickets at 22.35. Lellman then belted 3 hundreds amongst 692 runs at 57.67 the following season. He has continued to churn runs aplenty, and last summer (2023/24) a rapid double ton (202*) at the National Provincial A tournament ultimately sealed the deal for Lellman.

In between these seasons, he put his studies (Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics), on hold for a winter to pursue his maiden season in England. Unsurprisingly, he enjoyed a productive season playing for Downham Town in the top tier of the Norfolk Alliance hitting 805 runs at 40.25 and taking 20 wickets.

Having enjoyed his season abroad, Lellman has returned to play the last two seasons in the Greater Manchester League for Flowery Field. In his opening, 2023, season, Lellman struck 600 runs at 25 and bagged 45 wickets at 16.56. In 2024, he belted 998 runs at 35.64 alongside 17 wickets at 27.29.

The kiwi batting all-rounder is eager to impress in New Zealand this season, but is set to return for a third Flowery Field stint in 2025.
