Ishan Jayaratne is an experienced campaigner, who was finally rewarded for his domestic performances with Sri Lankan selection for English tour in 2021.
Whilst he didn't feature in the respective white-ball series' against England, his selection was just reward for one of Sri Lankan cricket's most destructive all-rounder's.
Since his List A debut in January 2009, the seam-bowling all-rounder has scored well over 4,000 runs and taken 400 plus wickets in all forms of domestic cricket. He has excelled in all forms, with bowling averages of 29.20, 25.78, and 18.88 in first-class, List A, and T20, respectively. Over the years, Jayaratne's batting has improved to the extent he's now deemed a genuine all-rounder. With 12 half-centuries, 2 hundreds and a season-best of 328 runs at 65.60 during the 2018/19 first-class season, lays testament to that.
He has played for a raft of domestic sides, but most recently the likes of Ragama Cricket Club (first-class), Dambulla District (List-A), and both Jaffna District (T20), and Kandy Warriors (Lankan Premier League - T20).
His success over the years has culminated with Sri Lanka A selection - most recently against the touring Indian A and Bangladesh A sides in 2019, before his full international squad selection in 2021.
Jayaratne has also enjoyed tremendous success abroad, playing for Elsecar in the South Yorkshire League (2012) scoring 638 runs at 33.58 alongside 35 wickets at 22.89 in all forms of cricket, before his barnstorming 2018 summer in the Lincolnshire County Board Premier League for Boston. The all-rounder finished the season topping the run charts - 1,007 runs at 77.46 and was second on the wicket count with 53 wickets at 11.11.
The Sri Lankan star is a fantastic performer, who enjoyed a strong stint down under for Buckley Ridges in 2022/23, and is set to feature again for their next Dandenong and District season.
