Born in Oudshoorn, Baartman is a tall, strapping pace bowler who played his maiden season for the Dolphins in 2020/21, following 3-years with rival Franchise, the Knights, in South African domestic cricket.
Such was his promise, Baarman broke into the Knights set-up in September 2017, having only played 8 first-class matches previously. He went on to feature in 10 first-class matches for the Knights taking 29 wickets at 29.13, before moves to the Dolphins in 2020, and KwaZulu-Natal Coastal last summer.
The powerful strike-bowler can lay claim to best match figures of 14-95 (7-27 and 7-68) recorded during his fifth first-class game for SWD. He went on to take 27 wickets at 20.62 during what was his breakthrough season in 2016/17.
He has since gone on to take a total of 93 wickets at 26.27 in 32 first-class games, alongside exceptional bowling averages of 21.46 and 17.50 in List A and T20, respectively.
Courtesy of his domestic exploits, Baartman was named in the South African Test squad for the Pakistan tour, but unfortunately, had to withdraw through injury. Nevertheless, he remains on their radar and aspires to don the Proteas cap in the near future.
The powerful quick is keen to explore UK opportunities in 2024, after pulling out of a deal in 2022 due to COVID. A brilliant overseas recruit for any high-level club next season.
