An explosive batter and handy off-spinner, Perera is a former Sri Lankan international who broke into the national ODI side in 2019, playing two matches against South Africa. His rapid rise was fuelled by standout performances at youth and domestic levels, including a stellar U19 World Cup campaign in 2014 where he finished as Sri Lanka’s second-highest run-scorer.
Perera was fast-tracked to Sri Lanka A in 2014, even before his domestic List A debut, and went on to shine in first-class cricket. His 2018/19 season with Colts CC was particularly eye-catching—he racked up 1,001 runs at 83.41, including four centuries and a remarkable unbeaten 206*, which earned him a national call-up.
In recent seasons, he has continued to perform, especially in List A cricket, where he averaged 101 in the 2020/21 SLC Limited Overs Tournament. Since moving to Police Sports Club in 2023, he has enjoyed solid returns, including 404 runs at 36.81 in the 2024/25 season.
Abroad, Perera has been equally impactful. He starred in the Hertfordshire League for West Herts (2021–22), scoring 1,478 runs at 39.95 and taking 68 wickets at 21.76. In 2024, he moved to Oakfield Parkonians in the Essex League, where he hammered 656 runs at 50.46 and claimed 25 wickets at 19.24. His fielding has also been widely praised—West Herts hailed him as the best ground fielder the club had ever seen.
Now looking to return to the UK for the 2026 season, Perera is a proven match-winner with international pedigree, all-round skill, and outstanding fielding—an exceptional signing for any ambitious club.
