Ravindra Karunaratne

Ravindra Karunaratne is a seasoned Sri Lankan all-rounder whose career spans more than a decade across domestic and international club cricket. A prolific off-spinner and dependable middle-order batter, Karunaratne has become a household name both at home and abroad.

On the Sri Lankan domestic circuit, he has turned out for several top-tier sides, including Saracens, Chilaw Marians, Seeduwa Raddoluwa, Negombo, Kurunegala Youth, and Kandy Customs. With nearly 2,000 first-class runs, including four centuries (two each in 2017/18 and 2019/20), and over 70 wickets, his all-round contributions are well documented. He holds impressive career bowling averages of 30.78 in first-class and 19.90 in List A cricket.

Karunaratne also boasts a dominant stint in Australian club cricket, having played a season with Bundoora (2008/09) before establishing a legacy with Aberfeldie in the VTCA. Over seven seasons, he amassed 2,867 runs @ 26.30 and snared 227 wickets @ 14.20, collecting club and league “Champion Player” honours multiple times. His best figures of 167 (bat) and 6-16 (ball) underline his impact.

In 2018, he brought his talents to the UK, shining in the Cornwall Premier League over multiple seasons with Grampound Road. In his first two campaigns, he tallied 1,323 runs @ 34.82 and 67 wickets @ 18.61. Beyond the stats, he earned glowing praise for his leadership and junior coaching — becoming a pillar of the club’s community.

He later joined Blackheath in the Kent Premier League (2021) as Player/Coach before heading to Coleraine in Northern Ireland’s NWCU, once again leaving a strong impression with both bat and ball.

Returning to Grampound Road in 2024, Karunaratne delivered a sensational season: 62 wickets @ 8.47 and 628 runs @ 31.40. He backed it up in 2025 with 637 runs @ 49.00 and 18 wickets, confirming his status as one of the league’s premier all-rounders.

Now eyeing a return for the 2026 UK season, Karunaratne brings a rare blend of on-field excellence and off-field value — a proven performer, mentor, and team-first professional ready to make another big impact.
